Hey everyone,
Grav 2 has really brought along with it a Grav renaissance, and it inspired me to make some significant updates to my two free, open-source projects, Open Publishing Space and Open Course Hub. Before finalizing their features, I’d value any feedback from the Grav community.
Open Publishing Space 2
An open guide or book site, such as a course reader, handbook or short open textbook, with a blog and almost any other Grav page alongside it. It’s now built on Quark 2, Grav 2’s theme, with a Quark version for Grav 1.7.
- Guides with section cards, parts, reading progress, and Keep My Place, which returns readers to the section they were reading
- Several guides on one site, each with a card on a Guides page
- A better reading experience on phones, with a Previous/Next bar at the bottom of the screen and a header that slides out of the way while reading
- Pressbooks books can be converted with the free Pressbooks Converter (beta) (see an example conversion)
You can try it in the demos, with one guide or several guides.
Open Course Hub 2
A course site that can now be organized by modules, built on Bootstrap4 Open Matter with a modern visual refresh for 2026.
- Home page reminders that link to this week’s and next week’s modules
- An optional course blog
- Pages that embed in Canvas, Moodle or Brightspace
- LMS courses can be brought in with the free Common Cartridge Converter (beta): as modules for Open Course Hub, or as a whole course for Open MultiCourse Hub (see an example conversion)
Open MultiCourse Hub does the same for several courses on one site. There are demos of both, Open Course Hub and Open MultiCourse Hub.
Any of the above projects can be downloaded at https://getgrav.org/downloads/skeletons.
I’d be interested to hear about:
- Anything that doesn’t work as expected, especially on your own hosting or Grav version
- If you notice any issue when viewing the sites on your phone
- What would make either project more useful for your own sites
- Any accessibility issues you notice
Replies here are great, or find me on the Grav Discord, or open an issue on GitHub.
Thanks so much,
Paul
