Should I change the permissions on them?
I had the same issue. I have to change permissions on the four items in question to 744 and all was resolved. You are almost there!

Perhaps, but this part varies depending on your hosting service. It is really not the responsibility of the grav team to provide support for hosting. If you read the complete documentation installation permissions are covered !
