Boxify modular theme adding new page with hero?

We'd like to create a template for all other "subpages" of the site without the hero header. We'd like to create a new low profile header for this template. When creating a new page in the admin it asks to select a template. We made a copy of the modular.md file in pages/ but it's using the stock header. Thoughts?
